It’s November and Templeton Run Club’s one year anniversary!
To celebrate, we will be running our 1st Annual Park to Pier run from Templeton Park to Cayucos Pier November 7th at 7am. This local favorite is a net downhill, 22 mile point to point run, which follows Santa Rita Road all the way to the coast. There are some big hills, mix of dirt and pavement, fantastic views and LOTS of downhill! Although this is technically an unsupported run, we’ll have a “rolling aid station” to transport waters, nutrition and gear with stops approximately every five miles. Not quite ready to run that far? We should be to the Santa Rita Road and Old Creek intersection shortly after 9:30am. Feel free to meet us there and run the last six miles! Or meet us in Cayucos for lunch and the after party! (We’re hoping to be there before 11am. Don’t forget to pack your masks for town)…and don’t worry if you have to miss it this year…we’ll start training again for it in August 2021!
If you’re new to running or just getting started again, join us for our Turkey Trot and anniversary celebration on November 26th at 7am! We’ll start at Templeton Park, head out Moss Lane and have a (socially distant) anniversary party afterwards! Make sure to RSVP on Strava!
We'll continue with our Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule for the remainder of the year. As our days continue to get shorter and darker, our Thursday evening runs will be held at either Templeton High School track or the Atascadero High School track. Keep an eye on the run club calendar for locations as we’ll work around the high school athletic calendar. Bring a headlamp with you as both of these facilities will be dark! The track workouts are great for runners that want to start up again without having to worry about getting lost or stuck on a run. You do NOT have to be a fast runner to be part of this club! We’re excited to have all levels of runners join us! We’re a small club, so our pace groups are not super diverse, but we all start together and always have someone there to make sure we all finish. This actually works out well for those that enjoy solo runs while still being social!
On a final note, as I logged on to the website last night, considering which photos to
upload from our most recent runs, I noticed the stock photos on the home page that I had used when we started this club. They were beautiful, professionally taken pictures of colorful running shoes and smiling runners. At the time, they were perfect because our club was just getting started and we really had no runners or routes to photograph! But now…one year later…we have pictures from runs that started in the dark and gradually lightened into spectacular sunrises….runs from well worn routes as well as fresh ones…adventure runs to the lakes and to the beach…runs that were all uphill…and some that just seemed like it!! We have met some amazing runners along the way, made some great friends and look forward to what this club can bring for all of us in the next year!
Happy Running everyone!!
